Cornell University has initiated steps towards building a new $55 million athletic facility, the Meinig Fieldhouse, situated on its central campus.
The university has filed Site Plan Review paperwork for the facility, set to be constructed on the Robison Alumni Fields, between Bartels Hall and Tower Road.
Described as an “Indoor Sports and Recreation Facility,” the 90,000 square-foot field house will provide year-round practice and competition space for various field sports.
It will also serve as a match venue for NCAA lacrosse during the early spring.
The facility, aimed at enhancing the university’s athletic capabilities, will include a relocated Marsha Dodson Field Hockey pitch with updated synthetic turf for the field hockey team.
