Hornell man arrested after multiple police chases, evading authorities

In Hornell, New York, Jason L. Loper, a 46-year-old local resident, was arrested on December 19 following a collaborative investigation by the Canisteo Village Police Department, the New York State Police, and the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office. Loper’s arrest came after several days of evading law enforcement, which involved multiple vehicle chases and attempts to flee on foot.

Loper had several warrants out for his arrest, including a significant felony violation of probation warrant. Law enforcement agencies had made multiple attempts to arrest him, but he continually managed to escape, leading to various high-speed pursuits. Finally, after a thorough investigation into his whereabouts, Canisteo Village Police engaged in a short vehicle chase with Loper, which ended with him trying to escape on foot. However, he was quickly apprehended and taken into custody.

Charged with resisting arrest and obstruction of governmental administration in the second degree by the Canisteo Village Court, Loper was then handed over to the New York State Police for further processing on additional charges. Subsequently, he was transferred to the Steuben County Jail, where he will face processing for other active warrants, including the felony violation of probation charge.
