A Steuben County man was sentenced this week to 12 years in prison for sexually abusing a 7-year-old girl in 2020.
Jason Chabot, 47, had been found guilty of first-degree sex abuse, then showed no remorse or sympathy for the victim.
Prosecutors in Steuben County say Chabot went against the Court, District Attorney’s Office, Victim, and criminal justice system by showing no acceptance of personal responsibility or sympathy for the victim.
The victim wasn’t able to report the incidents for nearly two years because of the nature of the acts and their age.
