Deputies: Teen tried stealing $650+ worth of merch from Victor store

Deputies say one person is in custody after a shoplifting incident on November 25 at the Von Maur store located at 300 Eastview Mall Drive in Victor.

The incident occurred around 1:51 p.m., leading to the apprehension of 19-year-old Jamal Beachum. Beachum was charged with petit larceny, a charge stemming from his attempt to leave the store with unpaid merchandise.

Upon arrival, deputies found that Beachum had concealed items from the Von Maur store, with the merchandise valued at approximately $657. His actions of concealing and then attempting to exit the store without paying for these items led to his arrest on the spot.

This was the second reported incident at Von Maur within hours, highlighting ongoing concerns regarding retail theft.

Beachum was issued an appearance ticket following his arrest. He is scheduled to appear in Victor Town Court at a later date to respond to the charge of petit larceny.
