Ontario County Sheriff deputies were dispatched to a reported larceny at the Von Maur store, located at Eastview Mall on November 24 at 11:44 a.m.
Upon arrival, they apprehended Yomma Freedom Qingyow, 22, for petit larceny. The arrest followed Qingyow’s alleged attempt to steal a grey North Face Jacket valued at $260 from the store.
The incident occurred when Qingyow reportedly concealed the jacket and then attempted to leave the store without paying for it.
His actions were quickly noticed by store personnel, leading to the involvement of the sheriff’s deputies. This situation is part of a broader challenge that retail stores face in dealing with shoplifting and other forms of retail theft.
Following his apprehension, Qingyow was issued an appearance ticket by the deputies. He is scheduled to appear in Victor Town Court at a later date to respond to the charge of petit larceny.
