Brad Ausmus named Yankees’ new bench coach

The New York Yankees have found their Carlos Mendoza replacement.

On Tuesday, the club hired former Detroit Tigers and Los Angeles Angels manager Brad Ausmus as their new bench coach, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reported

Ausmus, 54, has five years of managerial experience and is a former Major League catcher. He was drafted by the Yankees in 1987 in the 48th round but never played for the team.

This is the second coaching staff move the Yankees have made this offseason. James Rowson was named the new hitting coach a week ago.
