The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office gave an update on an overnight fire that happened on Powell Hill Road in the town of South Bristol around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Upon arrival, first responders observed flames coming from the second story of the residence, in the area of the chimney. Andrew Toulson, 41, along with his wife and six children all made it out of the home safely.
Fire crews were able to quickly put out the flames, but significant damage was still done to the home.
Local code enforcement determined that the home was uninhabitable based on the damage to the structure.
Toulson and his family were offered housing through the Red Cross, but they were able to make other arrangements.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
