Seymour Library’s $1.023 million budget proposal for 2024 is up for a vote, with a 5.5% tax levy increase on the table.
Officials say the vote, set for Wednesday, Oct. 25, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Seymour Library, is open to registered voters within the district covering the city of Auburn, town of Owasco, and parts of towns Fleming and Sennett falling under the Auburn Enlarged City School District.
The proposed budget, surpassing the state-imposed 2% tax cap, necessitated the library’s board to pass a resolution for its override for 2024.
A majority vote is required for the budget’s approval. Notably, the projected budget, majorly funded by a proposed $975,000 in tax revenue, aims to tackle rising operational costs.
