The Canandaigua Town Board has slated two public hearings for residents to review and share thoughts on the town’s draft 2024 budget.
These sessions are set for 6 p.m. on Oct. 11 and 16 at the Onnalinda Conference Room in Town Hall. For those unable to attend in person, a live Zoom streaming option is available with prior registration.
Key elements of this preliminary budget include a total outlay of $14.4 million, a dip in the tax rate from $1.02 in 2022 to 78 cents per $1,000 of assessed value for 2024, and a notable 37% surge in average residential property assessment.
Additionally, the budget proposal outlines a substantial 330% salary increase for Supervisor Jared Simpson, reflecting a transition from part-time to full-time responsibilities centered on enhanced resident communication.
Among other proposed salary adjustments, the preliminary budget specifies a $5,698 compensation for each of the four Town Board members.
