A Dundee resident, Dakota O’Shaughnessy, has been formally charged with vehicular manslaughter due to his involvement in a fatal car accident this past July.
The 21-year-old was reportedly under the influence of drugs when he lost control of the vehicle on the morning of July 3. The incident occurred on Route 14A in Barrington when the car he was driving rolled over several times, hit a culvert and multiple trees, and eventually came to a stop upside down.
Tragically, the 16-year-old passenger in the vehicle, Ty Gregory, also from Dundee, was declared dead at the accident scene. The investigation was led by the Yates County Sheriff’s Office, which alleges that O’Shaughnessy was impaired by drugs while driving south and subsequently went off the road, leading to the fatal rollover.
In addition to the felony charge, O’Shaughnessy is also facing a misdemeanor charge for driving while ability impaired by drugs. After his arraignment on Friday, he was detained in Yates County Jail.
