Deputies: Ionia woman falsifies parental docs to get public assistance

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of an Ionia woman following an investigation into public assistance.

Ashley Penkin, 37, was charged with first-degree offering a false instrument for filing.

She’s accused of filing documents with social services that indicated she was not aware of who the father of her child was.

This apparently despite both parents signing documents stating that they were the parents of that child.

Penkin will answer the charge at a later date in local court.
