Republican Tompkins County Legislator, Mike Sigler, is setting his sights on the New York State Senate, announcing his intention to run against incumbent Democrat Senator Lea Webb for the 52nd state Senate District in 2024.
Currently, Sigler’s focus is on fundraising and he’s actively engaging with potential supporters. He entered the campaign trail early, filing his candidacy application last July.
Senator Webb, who has the backing of the Working Families Party, narrowly secured her two-year term in 2022, capturing around 50% of votes for the district, which includes Tompkins, Cortland, and parts of Broome County. Sigler, a self-proclaimed moderate, expressed his primary concern that Albany is neglecting local needs.
