Seneca Falls Walmart evacuated after man dressed as a cowboy with replica gun causes disturbance

A disturbance at the Seneca Falls Walmart was quickly resolved on the evening of August 27, after an individual in cowboy garb was spotted with a gun strapped to their leg. This sighting led to a rapid response from both law enforcement and store management, resulting in a brief store evacuation.

Further investigation, including security camera footage review and an interview with the individual, allowed the Seneca Falls Police to determine that the weapon was a replica. It emerged that a local event the individual had attended inspired the Old West-themed attire. Given the prevailing sensitivities, any sight of a firearm, even a fake, can create significant alarm, reminding the public of the importance of discretion in their choice of attire and accessories.

Seneca Falls Police and Walmart staff worked cohesively to assess the situation and ensured the well-being of all present. After confirming the absence of any threat, Walmart resumed its regular operations. Police Chief Tim Snyder commended multiple agencies, including the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police, for their prompt assistance during the incident.
