Yankees drop sixth straight with series-opening loss to Red Sox

The New York Yankees (60-62) dropped their sixth straight with an 8-3 loss to the Boston Red Sox (64-58) on Friday night in the Bronx.

New York fell behind 7-0 in the first two innings, and the offense couldn’t mount a comeback.  

DJ LeMahieu plated the first run with a groundout in the third, and Aaron Judge belted his 23rd home run of the season in the eighth.

Ian Hamilton (3.2 IP), Keynan Middleton (1.0 IP), and Greg Weissert (2.0 IP) combined to allow just one run.

The Yankees will try to snap their season-high six-game skid on Saturday with Gerrit Cole on the bump. The first pitch is slated for 1:05 p.m.
