Waterloo Fire Department secures important grant funding

The Waterloo Volunteer Fire Department is set to receive a federal grant of $148,923.80, as announced by U.S. Senators Kirsten Gillibrand and Chuck Schumer.

Funded through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, the grant is earmarked for protective gear, training, and supplies.

The Waterloo department is among two recipients in the Rochester-Finger Lakes region and is part of the 29 departments across New York State awarded a combined total of $3.2 million.
