Mets avoid sweep with win over Braves

The New York Mets (53-65) avoided the four-game sweep with a 7-6 victory over the Atlanta Braves (75-42) Sunday night at Citi Field.

New York fell behind 3-0 in the first inning but plated seven straight before holding on in the ninth to secure the much-needed victory.

Rafael Ortega drove in two with a single while Jeff McNeil, Francisco Lindor, Omar Narvaez, Mark Vientos, and DJ Steward added RBI.

Kodai Senga allowed three runs over six innings while striking out seven.

The Mets will begin a three-game series with the Pittsburgh Pirates Monday at 7:10 p.m.
