In an effort to address complaints about smoking on the fairgrounds, the New York State Fair has announced a change in the location of designated smoking areas for this year’s event.
The Citizen reports that five smoking zones will be set up outside gates 3, 4, 9, 10, and 11A, positioned 50 feet from the gate entrances.
Fairgoers wishing to smoke after entering must obtain a reentry wristband.
The change follows a policy introduced in 2022, which established specific areas for smoking on the grounds, after a review triggered by issues at the 2021 fair.
