A 64-year-old woman was found unresponsive in Conesus Lake on Friday afternoon and was later pronounced dead, according to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s deputies were summoned to East Lake Road in the Town of Livonia around 5 p.m., where bystanders had discovered the woman in the water, pulled her to shore, and initiated life-saving attempts.
Despite the efforts of both the bystanders and first responders, the woman could not be revived. Preliminary investigations reveal that the woman had entered the water alone with the intention of floating on a raft. The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the cause of the tragic drowning incident.
