The Cannabis Control Board, in a virtual meeting on Wednesday, approved 212 new licenses for cannabis-related businesses in New York State, increasing the total number of CAURD licensees to 463. Of the new licenses, nine were awarded to applicants from the Finger Lakes region and one from Western New York.
The Finger Lakes recipients include GreenlakesDispo, LLC, Daniel S. Dennis, Kimberly Baldwin, JTCC NY LLC, Swan Lake Equity LLC, Jacob Calabria, 718 Equity Enterprise Inc, D’Amico Group LLC, and Evergreen Retail 1, LLC.
The approval of these licenses is part of the state’s ongoing expansion of the cannabis industry. Currently, there are 20 active retailers across New York State, with over 40 still in the process of development. Additionally, a laboratory testing license was granted to an applicant in Johnson City, elevating the total number of such licenses to 15.
The board also authorized partnerships between retailers, cultivators, and processors for events showcasing state cannabis products, pending approval from the Office of Cannabis Management. In parallel, inspections of unlicensed cannabis businesses commenced at the beginning of June, with the Office of Cannabis Management reporting 53 inspections and seizures amounting to approximately $11 million in products so far.
