A public hearing has been scheduled by the Auburn City Council for July 13 to discuss Local Law #1 of 2023, aimed at amending sections of the “Housing Standards” chapter of the Auburn City Code. The meeting will take place at 5:00 p.m. during the regular City Council meeting in the Council Chambers at Memorial City Hall, located at 24 South Street, Auburn, NY 13021.
The Local Law #1 of 2023 intends to bring necessary updates to the 1991 Auburn City Code that incorporated the “Housing Standards” chapter, including an enforcement section. Despite having a section on judicial review, the chapter lacks an administrative remedy. The proposed amendments aim to rectify this by introducing an administrative remedy, thereby enhancing the efficiency, clarity, and certainty of the appellate process. The administrative process will fall under the jurisdiction of the City’s Nuisance Abatement Committee.
Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to make requests for accommodations at least three business days in advance of the public hearing. Additional details about the law and the public hearing can be accessed on the Auburn City’s official website, AuburnNY.gov, or by contacting the Office of the City Clerk at Memorial City Hall.
