The New York State Legislature has given final approval to a bill requiring greater transparency in prescription drug pricing.
The legislation, which now awaits Governor Kathy Hochul’s signature, mandates that drug manufacturers notify the public of price increases before they come into effect via the drug utilization review board.
This move is hoped to contribute to lower prices for consumers.
AARP New York State Director, Beth Finkel, stressed the impact of high prescription drug costs on New Yorkers, many of whom have had to choose between medications and essential expenses like food, rent, and utility bills.
