Cayuga Lake National Bank celebrates first World Bee Day event

In celebration of World Bee Day, local financial institution Cayuga Lake National Bank (CLNB) hosted an in-person event at its Unions Springs branch on May 20. The goal of World Bee Day is to bring awareness to the importance of bees’ vital role in keeping the planet healthy. For the event, CLNB partnered with Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) of Cayuga County and the Fingerlakes Beekeeping Club.

Attendees of CLNB’s first World Bee Day event enjoyed a variety of family-friendly attractions such as a pollinator garden-planting initiative, youth crafts and activities, an observation hive, and local honey vendors.

Kelly Wade, President & CEO of CLNB, shared, “Our beloved mascot, Busy, is like family to all of us at CLNB and within our communities. We wanted to do our part in helping to support her family, which is why we launched this initiative to bring awareness to bees’ critical role through this celebration of World Bee Day.” Wade added, “We would like to thank our wonderful partners and vendors for supporting this event and look forward to hosting a celebration again next year.”
