Sheriff Brian Schenck says a Syracuse woman was taken into custody in Cayuga County and held without bail after attempting to pass a fraudulent check.
Roberta Root, 55, was arrested for second-degree forgery and possession of a forged instrument. Both of the charges are felonies, according to a release.
The charges following an incident at Lyons National Bank in Sennett for a report of a person, later identified as Root, trying to pass a forged check.
Investigation confirmed that it was fraudulent and she was held without bail after being taken into custody.
The investigation is active, and police are asking for anyone with information to contact the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.
