The New York Mets (11-6) outlasted the Los Angeles Dodgers (8-9), 8-6, in the series opener on Monday night at Dodger Stadium.
New York pounded out 14 hits, highlighted by a Daniel Vogelbach two-run homer and Brett Baty’s return to the big leagues. Baty contributed an RBI single, while Francisco Lindor, Pete Alonso, and Jeff McNeil added RBIs also.
David Peterson allowed a season-high six runs on seven hits over six innings while striking out six.
Brooks Raley, Drew Smith, and Adam Ottavino had scoreless outings out of the bullpen.
The Mets will try to win their sixth straight game on Wednesday with Tylor Megill on the mound. The first pitch is scheduled for 10:10 p.m.
