Easter costs higher this year due to inflation: Everything from chocolate to eggs impacted

Inflation has impacted the Easter holiday, leading to increased egg and candy prices, which may affect the cost of filling Easter baskets.

However, Americans are still predicted to spend a record $24 billion on Easter celebrations, according to the National Retail Federation.

Local chocolate shops like Andy’s Candies are experiencing a busy season, though customers are opting for smaller Easter bunnies due to higher prices. The increased costs result from rising expenses for chocolate ingredients and shipping costs for imported cocoa beans.

Egg prices are also higher than last year, despite a decrease since the beginning of the year, according to the USDA.

To combat “egg-flation,” some consumers are actively seeking out discounts and stocking up on eggs when prices are low.

Despite the increased costs, many people remain committed to maintaining their Easter traditions, even if it means spending more on holiday treats and activities.
