The Kiwanis Clubs of the Finger Lakes made a call for action on Saturday, inviting shoppers at the East View Mall to donate and help raise awareness of the mental health crisis affecting children and youth. The club members joined together to support the URMC Golisano Children’s Hospital Pediatric Mental Health and Wellness programs.
The event was a great success, with shoppers donating generously to support the cause. They also participated in basket raffles and created cards to send to children in the hospital, spreading positivity and hope to those in need.
The Kiwanis Clubs of the Finger Lakes highlighted the importance of raising awareness of the mental health crisis affecting children and youth. Christine Mitchell, Lieutenant Governor Elect of the Finger Lakes Division of Kiwanis, stated that “we’re losing too many lives, children, and youth, and even adults, and we just want to raise awareness that there’s help out there, Kiwanis cares, and we just want to make sure that everyone knows that there’s help out there for them. It is okay to ask for help.”
The event was a success in raising awareness of the mental health crisis and the need for support for children and youth. It is vital to continue efforts to support mental health programs and promote mental wellness, particularly during the ongoing pandemic. The Kiwanis Clubs of the Finger Lakes are a prime example of how community organizations can come together to support and promote mental health awareness.
