On March 30 the New York State Police Computer Crime Unit, along with SP North Syracuse and the U.S. Homeland Security Investigation-Syracuse, executed a search warrant at an apartment on Roney Lane in the City of Syracuse as part of an Internet Crimes Against Children investigation. The search led to the arrest of 21-year-old Dandre Terry on multiple charges related to the exploitation of children.
Terry has been charged with five counts of Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child, a class “D” felony, and five counts of Possession of Sexual Performance by a Child, a class “E” felony. Additionally, he has been charged with Use of a Child in a Sexual Performance, a class “C” felony, and Sexual Abuse in the 1st degree, a class “D” felony.
The charges are the result of Terry using various social media platforms to distribute child sexual exploitation material. A forensic analysis confirmed that Terry had used his cellphone to record the sexual abuse of a child under the age of 11.
Following their arrest, Terry was transported to the Onondaga County Justice Center to await centralized arraignment. The New York State Police received assistance from ICAC Albany and the Syracuse Police Department in the investigation.
The authorities urge anyone with information regarding Terry to contact the State Police at (315) 366-6000. The investigation is ongoing, and further details may emerge as the case progresses.
