Mitch Rowe plans on retiring by end of year: 15 apply to be Seneca’s next county manager

More than a dozen people applied to be the next county manager in Seneca County.

Current County Manager Mitch Rowe plans to exit the role by the end of the year.

Altogether 15 people had applied for the job, which will remain open until a candidate is selected.

Rowe has been with Seneca County since returning as county manager in 2018. A decade earlier he began a three-year stint as planning director, which turned into a two-year term county manager in 2012.

The county manager oversees the administration of the county on a daily basis. The person is considered the County’s chief budget officer, which means overseeing a $92 million spend, as well as nearly 500 employees.

The job’s salary is listed at $130,000 plus benefits at this point, but carries a residency requirement.
