The Ontario County Republican Committee has officially endorsed Town of Canandaigua Clerk Jean Chrisman for the position of Ontario County Clerk. The announcement was made at the county committee’s March 1st meeting held at the Elks Club.
Members of the county, city, and town Republican committees are currently circulating petitions for Chrisman to be on the ballot for the county clerk position in the upcoming November 7 election.
In her response to the endorsement, Chrisman expressed her gratitude and honor to be selected as the Republican candidate for the next County Clerk of Ontario County. She also stated her excitement about the opportunity to learn more about the county government and work with others in Ontario County.
Chrisman has been working for the Town of Canandaigua for over 25 years. For the first 16 years, she served as the Town’s Zoning Officer, and for the last 9+ years, she has been serving as Town Clerk. She believes that these positions allowed her to work with town residents and provide them with excellent customer service in a timely and professional manner.
Chrisman has lived in the Canandaigua community since 1993 with her husband Jerry, whom she has been married to for 29 years. They have a daughter named Heather. Chrisman received her Associates Degree from Monroe Community College in 1988.
Apart from her professional and academic achievements, Chrisman enjoys outdoor activities such as running, hiking, and kayaking. She is also the President of the Ontario County Tax Collectors Association and the Treasurer of the Ontario County Town Clerks Association. She earned her Registered Municipal Clerk (RMC) certification from the NYS Town Clerks Association in 2017.
Chrisman has been described as a hard-working team player who is dedicated, detail-oriented, honest, innovative, and compassionate. She believes in continuing education and belonging to local, state, and national organizations to learn and support all aspects of the office.
The Ontario County Republican Committee’s endorsement of Chrisman is expected to give her a significant boost in the race for County Clerk, with her extensive experience in local government and a strong reputation as a dedicated public servant.
