For the first time since 2009, the Canandaigua Braves have secured a sectional title.
The two-seeded Braves (19-5) took down the top-seeded Pittsford Sutherland Knights (19-4) with a 55-46 victory in the Section V Class A Final on Saturday afternoon at Rush-Henrietta High School.
Pittsford-Sutherland held a one-point lead at the break, but Canandaigua outscored the Knights 33-23 in the second half, with 23 coming in the final quarter to seal the win.
The Braves were led by Mya Herman, who netted a game-high 25 points. Julia Geitner contributed 14 points.
Canandaigua will face the Section VI Class A champion in the NYS Class A Far West Regional next Saturday at Buffalo State College.
