On February 28th a suspicious person on Broadway Road in the town of Owasco caught the attention of troopers from the State Police Auburn barracks. The individual, later identified as James P. McInerney, age 63, of Auburn, was subsequently arrested on multiple charges.
According to authorities, McInerney was charged with DWI, operating without an interlock device, open container, harassment, obstruction, and other traffic violations. The incident occurred on Sunday evening when a trooper on patrol noticed McInerney’s erratic driving.
Upon further investigation, it was discovered that McInerney was under the influence of alcohol and had an open container in his vehicle. Additionally, McInerney was not utilizing an Interlock Device, a device that prevents a vehicle from starting if the driver’s blood alcohol concentration (BAC) is above a certain limit.
