Officials in Ontario County say County Clerk Matthew Hoose died unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 21st.
Additional details about the incident were not provided. However, county officials made the announcement in a press release less than one week after the Board of Supervisors announced an investigation into the Clerk’s office.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with his entire family,” a statement from the county read. “We ask that the privacy of his family be respected.”
Ontario County Sheriff David Cirencione provided an update on the death investigation following an announcement from county officials that Hoose had died unexpectedly.
“Today at 9:30 a.m. Ontario County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an unattended death at a residence in the town of Canandaigua. Arriving deputies confirmed the death of County Clerk Matthew Hoose, age 54.
The cause of death remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigaiton Division and Ontario County Coroner’s Office, but does not appear suspicious.
The men and women of the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office extend our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to the Hoose Family during this difficult time.
There is no further comment and we ask that the privacy of the Hoose Family be respected.”
