Cornell University Police Department (CUPD) is investigating a burglary that occurred on the university’s west campus late Monday night. According to a statement from the department, officers received a report of a burglary at Hans Bethe House, a residential hall on Cornell’s campus.
The report was made at around 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday by a resident of the hall who said that between 1:30 p.m. on Monday and 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, an unknown person entered an unlocked dorm room while it was vacant. The thief stole a television and other personal items from the unsecured room.
The CUPD is urging anyone who may have seen or heard anything related to the incident, or who has any information, to contact public safety communications at 607-255-1111.
In the meantime, the CUPD has advised students to take precautions to secure their belongings, including locking their doors and windows when they leave their rooms. The department also reminded students to report any suspicious activity immediately.
