The Rochester Police are investigating the city’s first homicide of the year after a 19-year-old was shot and killed while leaving work at a Burger King on Lyell Avenue on Saturday night.
According to neighbors who have lived on Lyell for decades, the area is normally quiet, but they always have their guard up. “I have grandchildren, my great-grandchildren, when they’re here, they play in the backyard, they’re not allowed out on the front porch. I do feel like I’ve become desensitized, and that’s scary, and it’s scary because people are dying,” neighbor Valerie Bundy told News10NBC over the weekend.
Burger King released the following statement after the incident: “We have been made aware of the incident that occurred at this location. Our teams are working swiftly to confirm details of what occurred with the Franchisee.”
The Rochester Police Department has yet to release any information on the identity of the victim or any possible suspects. The investigation is ongoing.
