The owners of Dolomite Products Quarry and Asphalt have applied for a new air facility permit for their plant at 1719 Lovers Lane.
The state Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) in Avon has tentatively agreed to issue the new permit, but must allow for public comment before making a final decision.
The proposed permit combines the hot-mix asphalt production plant and quarry operations under a single permit, rather than separate ones. It also incorporates new regulations for low-nitrogen oxide emissions. The DEC has stated that the plant currently meets emission standards and that monitoring conditions will be included in the new permit, if approved.
Written comments on the permit must be submitted by January 27th. Application documents and draft permits can be inspected by appointment at the DEC’s Region 8 headquarters in Avon.
