State police: Victim in critical condition after being stabbed multiple times in the chest

On January 4th at 2:34 p.m. a stabbing was reported outside a residence on East Main Street in the village of Mohawk, Herkimer County.

When officers from the Mohawk Police Department and New York State Police arrived on the scene, they found 26-year-old Tkeyah LaPlante with multiple stab wounds in the chest area. She was transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Utica, where she is currently in critical condition.


Troopers arrested 21-year-old Taylor E. Goodhines, a resident of East Main Street, in connection with the incident. Goodhines was taken into custody without incident and charged with attempted murder in the second degree, a class “B” felony; assault in the first degree, a class “B” felony; and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a class “A” misdemeanor. Goodhines was processed and transported to the Herkimer County Jail, where she is being held on $150,000 cash bail/$300,000 bond.

The investigation into the stabbing is ongoing. No further information is available at this time.
