Longtime Cayuga County Clerk Sue Dwyer will not seek re-election.
She was the first woman elected to countywide office in 2003.
Earlier this week Dwyer announced that she would not seek a sixth term. The county clerk term is four-years long.
The clerk is responsible for overseeing several departments including the DMV.
“I love my job, but having worked for a total of 30+ years in public service, I am excited about shifting my priorities,” she said of the circumstances.
After winning her first election in 2003, she ran unopposed four more times.
