The Syracuse Orange men’s basketball team extended its win streak to five with a 78-63 over the Cornell Big Red on Saturday afternoon at the JMA Wireless Dome. Syracuse improved to 8-4 on the season, while Cornell dropped to 7-3.
Syracuse got off to another slow start but went on a 9-2 run right before halftime to tie the game. In the second half, the Orange outscored Cornell 41-26 to secure the victory.
Joe Girard knocked down three three-pointers and finished with a game-high 19 points to lead the way for Syracuse. Jesse Edwards recorded his sixth double-double of the season, netting 11 points and securing 11 rebounds. Judah Mintz (14 points), Chris Bell (13), and Benny Williams (12) completed the Orange performers that finished the day in double-figures.
