The Rochester Americans (12-9-1-1) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and never looked back as they picked up a 4-2 victory over the Charlotte Checkers (12-10-2-1) on Friday night at the Bojangles Coliseum.
Jiri Kulich, Brett Murray, Lukas Rousek, and Filip Cederqvist scored for the Amerks. Brandon Biro tallied two assists, while Malcolm Subban turned aside 45-of-47 shots.
Both teams failed to capitalize on the power play as Rochester finished 0-for-6, while Charlotte went 0-for-3.
The Amerks and Checkers will meet again on Saturday, with faceoff scheduled for 6 p.m.
