The Buffalo Sabres opened a three-game road trip with a 4-2 victory over the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday night at Ball Arena. With the victory, Buffalo improved to 14-14-2 on the season.

Tage Thompson, Alex Tuch, Rasmus Dahlin, and Dylan Cozens netted goals for Buffalo. Thompson’s goal moved him into a tie with Thomas Vanek (2008-09) for the third-most goals scored (24) by a Sabres skater in their first 30 games of a season.

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen put together his best performance of the season, stopping 39-of-41 shots, including 17 in the final period.

Buffalo converted on one of their two power-play opportunities while going a perfect 2-for-2 on the penalty kill.

The Sabres will try to win their third straight on Saturday night when they take on the Arizona Coyotes at 9 p.m.
