The Waterloo Village Republican Committee has gone another direction than incumbent Jack O’Connor.
They party chose Walt Bennett Jr. as its endorsed candidate.
O’Connor will now have to circulate petitions to force a primary.
He told the Finger Lakes Times he was ‘disappointed’ with the move; and said he would ‘definitely’ force a primary. “I’ve done a good job for the village in my first four years,” he told them, recalling the first time he ran for trustee – when the party didn’t endorse him then, either.
The committee said Bennett’s endorsement was unanimous.
