Law enforcement officials in France have opened an investigation into the disappearance of St. John Fisher student Ken DeLand Jr.
DeLand is a Midlakes grad who went missing in late-November. He’s been studying abroad at the University of Grenoble Alpes.

He last attended class on November 28th, according to authorities.
His family launched a website to find the 21-year-old.
French prosecutor Eric Vaillant called his disappearance worrying and said DeLand struggled to make friends and was ‘insufficiently prepared’ for his time in France.
Officials added that DeLand appeared to leave Grenoble voluntarily, and was spotted at a sports store about 87 miles from there on December 3rd. His cell phone was pinged at a train station on November 30th and has had no activity since.
DeLand’s family says this is uncharacteristic of him. They also contend that DeLand was enjoying his time abroad, and had been studying French since middle school.
