The Rochester Americans (11-9-1-1) dropped their third straight on Friday night with a 5-2 loss to the Utica Comets (8-7-3-1) at the Blue Cross Arena.
Rochester led 2-1 halfway through the third period, but Utica responded with four unanswered goals, including two with the empty net, to secure the victory.
Lukas Rousek and Linus Weissbach scored for the Amerks. Brandon Biro collected a pair of assists, while Jeremy Davies and Chase Priskie also tallied assists. Michael Houser made his ninth start of the season and turned aside 15-of-18 shots.
Rochester finished 1-for-5 on the power play and 0-for-1 on the penalty kill.
The Amerks will try to get back in the win column on Saturday in Toronto against the Marlies. Puck drop is set for 4 p.m.
