Dead shopping plaza in Macedon could see millions in investment from Rochester-area company

For those who live in the area Macedon has become a hotbed of economic development activity. Now, a long-dead plaza appears to be getting new life. The West Wayne Plaza along State Route 31 in the town of Macedon has been largely empty since Ames left it around two decades ago.

That departure, as the Finger Lakes Times reported, set off a chain of events that left the plaza in significant disrepair.

Enter Mastercraft Decorators.

President John Regis tells the Finger Lakes Times that they will spend $3.1 million to renovate the 57,000 square foot space and bring 42 jobs with an annual payroll of $1.8 million to Macedon. The long-term goal will be to add at least 20 more jobs.

They currently operate out of the village of Fairport, and have warehouse space there, in Farmington, and along 31.

Mastercraft was named one of the top-100 fastest growing private companies in 2022 by the Rochester Chamber of Commerce.
