Schuyler County goes with Cayuga Health for ambulance service: What does that mean?

The Schuyler County Legislature voted 7-1 this week to enter into a three-year contract with Cayuga Health Transport.

The county had been looking at options to replace the Schuyler County Volunteer Ambulance Association due to issues with the ambulance service.

The two biggest issues were response time and availability during calls. Those issues are typical of rural counties. Especially those without larger, paid-for services.

Cayuga Health will manage the new ambulance service and has proposed three stations placed around the county to ensure all communities in Schuyler receive equal service.

The new contract begins December 1st.
