Cornell University suspends all frat parties and social events after reports of students being drugged, sexual assault

The Interfraternity Council (IFC) at Cornell University has suspended all frat parties and social events after reports of sexual assault and students being drugged from campus police at both Ithaca College and Cornell University.

IPD reported on Monday that they were investigating a sexual assault that happened late-Sunday in the North Campus area.

Through investigation, police learned that several college students reported being drugged at parties. However, they didn’t specify which campus the parties were affiliated with.

Cornell University Police report that at least four students were drugged over the weekend during off-campus residences affiliated with fraternities.

The decision to suspend all fraternity parties came Sunday night.

“Fraternity leaders will take this time to implement stronger health and safety plans,” officials said in a statement. “No IFC-affiliated social events will resume until student leaders and Cornell staff are confident activities can take place responsibly and safely.”

Survivors of domestic and/or sexual assault can contact the Advocacy Center of Tompkins County 24/7 at 607-277-5000 for support.
