On October 31st the Ontario County Humane Society began investigating an alleged animal abuse case.
The allegations indicated that an injured cat, a female black and white domestic shorthair wearing a flea collar, was taken in by Gordon Bennett, 50, and Tracey Loguercio, 36, of Rushville after they claimed it was hit by a car.
The animal had allegedly suffered rib and neurological injuries. However, instead of seeking veterinary care for it – the two attempted to euthanize the animal at home.
The two then placed the cat in a freezer, where it was left to die. The inhumane nature of the case resulted in felony aggravated cruelty to animal charges. There are additional charges pending against both.
The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the case.
