The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation has shared that Nov. 11 will be Free Fishing Day for the state.
This means on Veterans Day anybody can fish in the state of New York without a fishing license.
Freshwater fishing regulations are still in effect.
The DEC has even offered a list of things to try, according to Rochester First.
DEC’s ideas for Free Fishing Day
- Try fishing for the first time
- Haven’t fished in a while? Remember the joy of catching a fish again
- Become an ambassador for the sport and take a friend fishing for the first time
- Invite a friend to New York to fish
- Take a spouse or significant other fishing
- Take the family fishing
