Have you seen any peeling license plates lately?
Despite New York’s effort to get motorists into new license plates – there are still quite a few rolling around the state. That’s prompted some to wonder “Does that have an impact on the Thruway’s toll readers?”
Officials with the Thruway Authority say issues associated with billing and peeling license plates are rare. In fact, they told the Times Union that missing tolls brought on by peeling plates make up an ‘infinitesimal’ percentage of the total.

This all means that the likelihood of a missed toll is slim.
So far, there have been more than 650 million transactions recorded in the new cashless tolling system.
