New York’s average price is slightly higher than nation overall

The average gas price in New York is greater than the national average price, which stands at $3.68.

“The national average for a gallon of gas has fallen $1.34 since its peak in mid-June,” said Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson in a Sept. 19 statement. “But there are big factors tugging on global oil prices—war, COVID, economic recession, and hurricane season. All this uncertainty could push oil prices higher, likely resulting in slightly higher pump prices.”

New York’s overall gas price has fallen roughly 11 cents since last week, and a little over 50 cents since this time last month.

The average price statewide was significantly lower in September 2021 at $3.28.
